Positivity. Something I’ve been lacking these past couple years.
Well, recently, I’ve been trying to be a little more positive and look at the bright side of things. For me, personally, this started with gratitude.
I try to make a list of things that make me happy and grateful every once in a while (I should be doing this every day, but I’m a bit of a slacker).
Anyways, today, I wanted to share with you 3 quick things that put a smile on my face.
1. Supportive friends
For the longest time, I was surrounded by toxic people I called ‘friends’ thinking they were good for me, when in fact they were just dragging me down (more on that in a future post? I don’t know.).
Now, I have friends who share the same interests and propel me forward to the person I want to be.
When I’m feeling down, they make sure to tell me that this is temporary and that it won’t last. When I’m stressed, they send me self-care tips and master-posts on Tumblr. When I succeed they celebrate with me.
Leen and Zaina, if you’re reading this, thank you for being some of the best friends I’ve ever had.
2. A good book and a cup of coffee
I’m an introvert, what’d you expect?
It’s no secret that I love books… and coffee. So this is a no-brainer.
There’s nothing better, in my opinion than snuggling into a couch with a good book and a warm cup of coffee. I swear it’s like the whole world disappears.
3. Hugs and affection
For a while I denied liking hugs and all that. I don’t really know why. I think I wanted people to know I’m tough and all that, but eh.
Now, I really embrace it.
Nothing puts a smile on my face more than a friend coming up to me and giving me a hug out of nowhere. It’s like ‘awwww! You thought about me.’
I also love it when people send me a text with something along the lines of ‘I saw this and it reminded me of you since you love _____ so much.’ Like, you guys don’t even know it, but you made my day.
It’s just nice to know that people genuinely care about you (that sounds sad, but eh.)
