And we’re back here again!
At the end of 2015/begining of 2016, I published a post where I shared some of my favorite music releases of that year, so this year, I decided to just go ahead and carry on the tradition!
I have a lot to talk about in today’s post, so please bare with me.
The Shadow Side / Andy Black
As per usual, I always put my favorite album on the top of the list, so here is this piece of perfection for you.
I mean, can we just appreciate his perfection?! I mean he blesses your eyes, ears, mind and soul, why wouldn’t you like him?
You know those albums that have dancy music with really dark lyrics, yeah this is one of them. That’s kind of the thing I love the most about his side project.
It actually kind of reminds me of Twenty One Pilots in a way.
OH MY GOD AND HE COLLABED WITH ASHTON MOTHERFUCKING IRWIN! DROWN ME OUT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS AND IT’S BY 2 OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE LIKE GOD HELP ME PLEASE!
(sorry, the fangirl took over)
- Drown Me Out
- Put the Gun Down
- Broken Pieces
Lukas Graham / Lukas Graham
This is another album that has that dancy music and dark lyrics, o I guess you can see a kind of pattern in the music I listen to.
I think we’ve all heard 7 Years, but I really think that their other music better! I think it’s the just hipster in me, but I think this whole album is worth a listen.
- Mama Said
- Don’t You Worry ‘Bout Me
- Happy Home
- Take the World By Storm
Revolution Radio / Green Day
Now this is what I call a good comeback! Ad can we just talk about this beautiful album art?! I don’t know why, but I really love when albums have simple art.
This album is truly revolutionary. I don’t think I’d ever get sick of Greenday, even if we don’t get new music for a while.
- Say Goodbye
- Revolution Radio
Air For Free / Relient K (album)
- Mrs. Hippopotamuses’
Animal / Badflower -Single
HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT
This might be the best indie band I’ve ever listened to! They’re such a good mix between ’80 hard rock and modern music. I would 1000000% recommend this bad to you if you want to listen to some underground grungy rock music!!!
They did put out an EP, but I haven’t listened to the whole thing yet so I couldn’t put it on this list.
ps. this song is perfect for head banging!
Us / Gnash
It seems like everyone was singing along to i hate you, i love you at some point this year, but not enough people actually gave gnash’s albums a try.
His music is actually really great and amazing for just relaxing and hanging around at home.
- rumors (feat. mark johns)
- fragile (feat. Wren)
- get well soon (feat. liphemra)
Drug Dealer / Macklemore (feat. Ariana DeBoo) – Single
I almost never listen to hip/hop but when I checked out Macklemore’s new song, I couldn’t stop listening to it.
It’s like songs are just about drugs these days, but Drug Dealer actually says a lot about the negative side of drugs and addiction. If you’re not into the beat of the song, then totally check out the lyrics, because I, and a lot of other people, think this song is very well written.
11 Blocks / Wrabel – Single
Okay, first off I just want to say that I love this cover art. I don’t know why it’s just really pretty to look at.
Now on to the actual song.
The beat of this song just gets you bobbing your head and humming along, even though the lyrics deal with heartbreak and abandonment.
Totally great for when you need something a little more on the chill side that you can sing along to.
Joanne / Lady Gaga
- Perfect Illusion
- John Wayne
Wings / BTS
- Blood Sweat & Tears
- Am I Wrong
Made Violent / Made Violent
I can’t believe this was releases last year, it seems so long ago!
I think I mentioned them in 5 blogposts, but I fucking love this EP! I think made violent is one of the best artists I discovered this year; they totally need to be more popular!
- Two-Toned Hair
- On My Own
Death of a Bachelor / Panic! at the Disco
Nothing needs to be said here. Anything P!ATD is an automatic favorite.
- Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time
- House of Memories
Everybody Wants / The Struts
- Put Your Money On Me
- The O’ Switcheroo
- Kiss This
California / Blink-182
It’s been a really long time since we got a Blink release, so of course when they come out with a new album, everyone and their mother’s into it; I’m not an exception!
- Bored to Death
- Rabbit Hole
- The Only Thing That Matters
Alive / Trevor Moran (EP)
It’s no surprise that this is on the list, I’m a big fan of Trevor and his music, so this is an automative love!
- Got Me Feeling Like
- Let’s Roll
All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend / AURORA
This feels like such an old album because I’ve played it so much, but when I went back to check, it actually came out during early 2016!
I mentioned AURORA in a previous post about underrated artists, and I still stand by what I said about her; so this, again, had it’s special place in this post!
- Running with the Wolves
- Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
Much Love / Microwave
Upside Down / Set It Off
- Upside Down
- Admit It
- Something New
Illuminate / Shawn Mendes
I’m not going to fight it. I listened to it a lot, so it’s on this list.
- Bad Reputation
- Lights On
- Don’t Be a Fool
Jolene / Penatonix (feat. Dolly Parton)
I’m not usually into country music, so this is a pretty bizarre one on this list, but it’s good, so check it out!
Misadventures / Pierce the Veil
- Song for Isabelle
All the Luck / The Young Wild
- Not a One
- Ain’t Got Nothing On Me
- All the Luck
That’s all I have for you, if you liked any of these albums yourself or found any new music that you might want to check out, then tell me in the comment!
