Holiday Booktube-a-Thon TBR

So as many of you know I’m really behind on my TBR pile… So we’re back at to the readathons.

I’ve finished my Goodreads reading challenge of 100 books, but my TBR pile is still towering, but thanks to booktube-a-thon, I can finish up a couple books before 2017 ends.

You might remember the summer booktube-a-thon, which was an outstanding success (for me), and it’s back!

So keep reading to find out my (ambitious) TBR and the reading challenges!

HOLIDAY.jpg

Before we start off, I want to give you the basic information about it:

What?

It’s a 3-day challenge type time where you have to read as much as you can. There are also some challenges which you can try to complete.

When?

This time, it’s only a 3-day read-a-thon, so it takes place from the 29th to the 31st. The last 3 days of 2016.

Who?

Anyone can join! You don’t even have to post a TBR (but it’s fun to see what other people are reading so go ahead and snap a pic anyways!

You can watch this video which Ariel posted mentioning the date and challenges of the readathon if you want to get an overview.

Reading Challenges:

1/ Read a book that has your favorite color on the cover.

2/ Read a book from a genre you discovered this year.

3/ Read a book that was gifted to you.

*Bonus* Read three books.

1/ Read a book that has your favorite color on the cover.

11760182

I picked this book up from a national book festival thing that was hosted nearby a week ago and I’ve been really excited to pick it up. Because… It’s Ellen.

I love Ellen, and this has blue on the cover, so why not pick it up for this challenge and get a quick funny read out of it too?

It’s only around 220 pages long, so I’m pretty sure I’ll get through this pretty quickly.

Synopsis:

“Sometimes the greatest things are the most embarrassing.” Ellen Degeneres’ winning, upbeat candor has made her show one of the most popular, resilient and honored daytime shows on the air. (To date, it has won no fewer than 31 Emmys.) Seriously… I’m Kidding, Degeneres’ first book in eight years, brings us up to date about the life of a kindhearted woman who bowed out of American Idol because she didn’t want to be mean. Lively; hilarious; often sweetly poignant

2/ Read a book from a genre you discovered this year.

I read the Lunar Chronicles this year, and they’re retellings, so I went with Ash.

It’s a lesbian Cinderella retelling, and it’s also really short, so just perfect for a readathon!

Funny story, I thought the girl on the cover of the book was a flower for the longest time.

Synopsis:

Cinderella retold

In the wake of her father’s death, Ash is left at the mercy of her cruel stepmother. Consumed with grief, her only joy comes by the light of the dying hearth fire, rereading the fairy tales her mother once told her. In her dreams, someday the fairies will steal her away, as they are said to do. When she meets the dark and dangerous fairy Sidhean, she believes that her wish may be granted.

The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King’s Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash’s capacity for love-and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love.

3/ Read a book that was gifted to you.

I was going to pick this as my favorite color book, but when I looked at my shelves I found out that this is perfect for the gifted book, so here it is.

My friend got me the whole series’ box set last year as a secret Santa gift. It’s been a year and they’re still unread…

I think it’s time I change that!

Synopsis:

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Other books I want to read in the readathon:

I know, pretty ambitious already for a 3-day readathon, but I wanted to have some other books just in case I have extra time.

Soundless by Richelle Mead

24751478

I’ve had this for a while, and I’ve actually tried reading it and DNFed it 80 pages in, but it’s short and sweet, so I have a feeling I can get it done this time.

Synopsis:

In a village without sound…

For as long as Fei can remember, no one in her village has been able to hear. Rocky terrain and frequent avalanches make it impossible to leave the village, so Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink. Many go hungry. Fei and all the people she loves are plunged into crisis, with nothing to look forward to but darkness and starvation.

One girl hears a call to action…

Until one night, Fei is awoken by a searing noise. Sound becomes her weapon.

She sets out to uncover what’s happened to her and to fight the dangers threatening her village. A handsome miner with a revolutionary spirit accompanies Fei on her quest, bringing with him new risks and the possibility of romance. They embark on a majestic journey from the peak of their jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiguo, where a startling truth will change their lives forever…

And unlocks a power that will save her people

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

22456292.jpg

I mentioned in my last post that I want to finish the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by the end of this year, and I’m pretty confident I can do that because I only have 130 pages of this left and there’s still 3 days left in 2016.

If I don’t get this done by tonight then I’ll have to read in during the booktube a thon.

I won’t put this synopsis because this is the last book in a series.
