It’s finally time to update one of my earlier book posts!
The last time I talked to you about book series, I have never finished reading a series, but now, I have over 3 series done!
Yay! Anyways, I have nothing else to really say in the introduction, so let’s just get into this!
The Hunger Games
The first series I ever finished was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I know, it’s really bad that I’ve been putting it off, but I finally can say that I finished the whole series.
I loved it so much, but I do have to say that the last book was pretty much a big flop. I gave the first two books 5 stars, but the last book was the biggest let down I’ve ever had! I think that the conclusion to a series really does affect how I rate the whole series, and Mockingjay just made the whole series go down to a 4 stars for me, which is really heartbreaking.
I think I’ll be doing a series review soon, so keep on the look out for that.
Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children
This one was pretty much a big let down for me. I really liked the first book, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (4 stars), but then when I went on to read the second book, Hollow City (2 stars), I was so disappointed that I contemplated never even finishing the series.
When I found the last book, Library of Souls (2.5/3 stars) in my local bookstore on sale, I just decided to get it and see if I like it. I don’t really regret it, but I don’t think I would be missing out if I didn’t read it…
The conclusion was pretty rushed, and could have had a couple extra pages added on, but other than that, the last book was pretty fun.
I recently also picked up the little short story collection for the series called The Tales of the Peculiar (5 stars), and I’m gonna be completely honest here. It was one of the best reads of this year. It was such a fun twist on children’s stories. They’re not really retellings, but they kind a read like their bedtime stories.
Anyways, read it. You need to, even if you don’t want to read the rest of the series, because it doesn’t spoil anything.
I give this whole series a good 3 stars..
The Lunar Chronicles
Thi is my favourite series of all time. Hands down.
I can’t even talk about how amazing this is. The sci-fi twist on fairy tails is one of the best retellings to even been done, and I don’t say that lightly.
I wrote a whole My Current Addiction post on it a while back incase you want to see me fangirling a little more, because I’m just gonna keep this short.
I finished Winter a couple of days ago, and it was completely amazing. beautiful. Fabulous to no end. Every good thing you can think about.
I still have to read Stars Above which is a collection of novellas and short stories, but I’m kind of saving that for later so I can just absorb all of this series.
God this series. Ugh. I have to stop.
Non finished series.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
I read the first 3 books this year, and plan on finishing it by the end of 2016, which is a pretty reasonable goal in my eyes.
I’ve been enjoying it a lot, that’s for sure. If I had to describe this series in a nutshell, I would say it’s just really fun.
Till now, the first book is my favourite (5 stars), while the second was a 4 stars, and the third one was a 3.5.
I also bought the first book in the Heros of Olympus series because I know I’ll want to jump straight into that as soon as I finish.
Penryn and the End of Days
I was never planning on starting this series, but the audiobook of the first book, Angelfall, was on sale and I just said why not and bought it. I ended up finishing the whole thing in a day, and rated it 5 stars!
This is such a fun and action packed series, and that’s why I picked up the second book, World After, on audio too, and rated it 5 stars again.
I’m currently listening to a bit of the last book, End of Says, at a time, but it’s taking me a really long time, so I’m not really sure what will happen with that, but I do hope I get it done this year.
Throne of Glass
YEAH! I finally got started with this series! I actually read the first two books!
This is just the series for me, because it’s this action packed high fantasy series with kickass characters and well done romances!
I would love to pick up the third book but it’s not available in any of my bookstores, which is really sad, so I’ll probably pick it up on audio soon!
I’m so ashamed. I’ve only read the first 3 books, which is just the saddest thing, because I loved the movies that I’ve watched, and I didn’t even watch all of them.
I just need to get my harry potter game on because I’m just in love with the world. Yada yada yada.
