Mid Year Book Freakout Tag | Book Tag

Hey, you little weirdos! Today, I’m back with the Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag!

I know it’s not mid-year anymore, but better late than never, am I right?

I saw all these people on Booktube do this tag, and it seemed pretty fun, so I decided to just make a post even though no one tagged me (*lonely music starts playing…*)

It’s only a couple questions long, so let’s just jump right into it!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2016

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I was really intimidated by this because it was a Historical Fiction book, and it’s like 500 pages long, but I ended up loving this so much! It gave a completely different outlook on life and how we view it, and just WWII in general.

I think I’ll be picking up more historical fiction because of it and in particular WWII fiction!

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2016

Cress by Marissa Meyer (Lunar Chronicles #3)

I think that Cress is the best in the series, and one of the most action packed, awesome book that I’ve read in a while. If you want something that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time, then you should check out this series as a whole.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

Against All Silence by E.C Meyer (SOS #2)

I got an ARC from Adaptive books, and I’m so thankful! If you haven’t read the first book in the series then you should pick it up right now. Like now. You can read my review on The Silence of Six right here if you want to see what I think about it.

It’s just full of awesome chases, and vivid characters!

Biggest Disappointment

The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider

I thought this was going to be amazing. I had really high expectations. I don’t really know why, I just got this vibe off of the book, and I came out thinking wow, what a waste of my time.

I found nothing good about this book. Usually, I can at least find one redeeming quality about a book that I don’t like, but this was just a whole new level of disappointment.

Biggest Surprise

The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand

I haven’t really talked about this book that much, but after I read it at the beginning of the year, I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.

It was so… deep.

I think that’s the word I’m going for, because, I don’t really know how to explain how much this book meant to me. I felt to connected to the characters and the whole plot, and oh my god the tears at the end. I WAS SOBBING!

I didn’t expect to be as blown away as I was, but it really was a pleasant surprise!

Favorite New Author

Tahera Mafi

After reading Shatter Me, I fell in love with her writing style. I mean if you haven’t read anything by her, then you really should. People either hate it or love it and for me, I really did

People either hate it or love it and for me, I really did adore it!

Not to mention, just watching her interviews and all, ah, I feel like we could be friends! Tahera, if you’re reading this, call me up! We could go out to coffee!

Newest Fictional Crush

Carswell Thorne from the Lunar Chronicles

After reading Cress, I kind of just fell into this whole Carswell mood! I mean, I was fangirling more than Cress was, I was so just ugh!

He is totally my new book boyfriend!

Newest Favorite Character

Jace Wayland from the Mortal Instruments

Can we just talk about this for a second… Like, please. Just Jace.

I read City of Bones for the first time and I swear, just ahh! I ship them so much, but that plot twist just fucked it all up! GOD WHY, WHY CASSIE WHY?!

Favorite Post You’ve Done This Year

(I’m only going to count my book posts)

I think I’m proud of how many book reviews I got out there, although I’m not doing them anymore, I think that while I did it, it was fun, and to put out 20 or so reviews in this short period of time was really great!

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I got a hardcover version of this beautiful book, and I’m really proud of that! The cover is gorgeous, and the whole story inside matched up beauty wise!

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I seriously need to finish up the harry potter series, and having this will just be a little push. So when I finish the series, I’m going to be reading this as soon as possible.

What Book Do You NEED to Read By the End of the Year?

Winter by Marissa Meyer

God, this is the finale to one of my all time favorite series, and it’s huge! I mean it’s 800 pages long!

I picked it up and DNF’ed a couple times, but I’m sure I’ll be able to finish it before the year ends!
