Hey, guys! Today, I didn’t really have any post planned, but then this idea just kinda popped into my head.
I’ve been trying to finish most of the book series that I’ve started this summer, and I decided to just talk about it here.
Fun Fact: I’ve never fully finished a book series.
Yeah, let’s talk about that…
So, I have this very bad habit of starting a series and never actually finishing them.
I’ll read the book and then think oh this is really good, le’me buy the rest of the series and then read it later. Later never really comes by.
So right now, I just have a shit ton of series that just hang out on my shelf waiting for that one day that I actually decide to pick them up.
So this summer, I decided to just sit down and read and complete as many of them as I can; and till now, I’m actually doing a pretty good job at it.
I still haven’t finished any… BUT! But I have a couple that I just have to finish the last book for.
I’m trying to get the trilogies and quartets out of the way so I can focus on the longer 6/7 book series later (and I actually plan on finishing them this time).
Now on to the mini reviews! I’ll only be talking about the series that I finished 2 or more of the books from.
The Hunger Games Trilogy
I know, I know. I’m really late to the party.
The last movie just came out, so I just decided to pick it up and see what I was missing.
WOW! I admit that I’ve been missing A LOT! I’ve only read the first 2 books, but I’m in the middle of Mockingjay right now, and I’m so excited to see how this wraps up.
I actually finished The Hunger Games in a day, and then picked up Catching Fire during the same week. So that’s saying something!
I surprisingly liked the books more than the movies, and as you know, the movies are phenomenal!
So, overall, I rate this series (so far) 5 out of 5-stars!
The Lunar Chronicles Quartette
I think this is my favorite series of all time. I’m completely serious!
I read the first book, Cinder, around March, and then I picked up the next 2 books, Scarlet and Cress, during June. I’ve been putting off reading the last book, Winter, because it’s like 800 pages and also I DON’T WANT THIS SERIES TO END!
I flew through all of these books, even though most of them are pretty chunky.
You feel as if you’re being transported into this whole world and you’re just IN THE MOMENT!
Not to mention all the hot guys in the books! Kai, Thorne (my FAVORITE!), and Wolf (woof woof if you get what I mean )
I rated this series an overall 5 out of 5 stars and I’m super excited for the last book! I’m gonna pick it up after I finish MockingJay, so it’s the next on my list.
The Mortal Instruments Series
I’m kinda cheating over here, because I’ve only read the first book, City of Bones, and I’m in the middle of the second book City of Ashes.
This is a 6 book series, but I think it’s separated into 2 trilogies or something.
This has a shit ton of hype around it, so I picked up the first book in January and I’m just getting around to reading the second book in July.
I’m really liking it so far, but I’m not sure where everything is going, especially with Simon…. So I’m not sure.
I rated the first book 5 out of 5 stars, but I’m not sure what I’m gonna rate the second one.
Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Trilogy
I first picked the first book up because of Jesse from jessethereader (this is his favorite series of all time), and I was kinda meh about it.
I really liked the first book. The whole book was full of action, and romance, and just awesomeness, but then the second book was kind of a flop I’m being honest.
I loved the photos, that was a great touch, and it really just made the whole book more believable, which is so weird, because kids with super powers aren’t really something believable.
I’m gonna pick up the third book, but I still haven’t found a paperback version of The Library of Souls.
I give this series 4 out of 5 stars so far.
Death Note Manga Series
Again, this one is kind of cheating because it is a manga, but I’m 9 volumes in, and only have about 3 or 4 left so I’m gonna probably finish it pretty soon.
I love this series. Period.
I’ve raved about it in so many posts and tweets, so I’d be surprised if you don’t already know this.
This world is so complex and the crime thriller portion of it is just so well thought that it’s just so mind-blowing!
If you’re into manga and still haven’t read this series, then you should totally check it out and see what I’m talking about. You won’t regret it!
Those are the main series that I’ve been working on, so now I’m gonna go to the series that I’m gonna get to finishing soon.
Shatter Me Trilogy
I picked up the first book and just fell in love with the whole dystopian aspect. Not to mention Tahera Mafi’s amazing writing.
I bought the other two books, and they really do have a high priority on my list.
I also want to finish this whole series before the TV show comes out, just so I can enjoy the whole thing without being worried about spoilers.
The Infernal Devices Trilogy
This is a prequel series to the Mortal Instruments, so you have to read the first 3 books then the first book in this trilogy, then the 4th book in the MI then the second book here, etc etc.
People say this is the best trilogy of all time, and that everyone should read it at some point.
I have the first book, so I’m just gonna wait till I read that one then see if I want to read the other 2, which I have a feeling I want to.
Throne Of Glass Series
This is a high fantasy series that I’ve been meaning to read for the longest time.
I picked up the first book and just read the first couple chapters and put it down, so this time, I just wanna read the whole thing and see how I like it because it’s gonna be the first high fantasy series I start.
I think the 5th book is coming out this fall, and I wanna at least be finished with the first 2 books by then.
A Court Of Thorns and Roses Trilogy
At this point in time, only the first 2 books are out, and I own the first book.
People say that the second book is just WOW and OMG and AWESOME so I wanna see what’s going on and why they’re all freaking the fuck out.
Plus, I’ve been in the mood for retellings.
Yes, I know. I know I’m really late…
I got the hardback box set as a gift, and it’s just staring at me. I wanna read it but it’s so chunky and huge and I actually got spoiled for the end of the last book so…
I’m still gonna read it. Or at least try to read the first book by the end of the summer.
The Selection Series
Again, I got the boxset for secret Santa last year, so I’m only missing the last book, The Crown.
I don’t even know why I haven’t read it yet because people say that it’s actually really fluffy, not to mention the books are really short.
I’m just gonna have to pick it up as soon as possible.
Much love, Rawan …
