Hey, beautiful! Today, I’m going t give you some tips on how to get over a reading slump.
Sometimes you just can’t read, but us bookworms can’t deal with that. We have our Goodreads challenge to keep up, every page is valuable, so we can’t waste time.
Anyways, in this blog post, I’m going to be sharing 4 tips on how to get over a reading slump.
I also want to mention that these are my tips, so they won’t necessarily work for you.
1. Keep picking up books
Don’t stop reading is what I’m trying to say. You don’t have to finish each book you read, but you just need to keep picking up books.
I had a major reading slump around January, and it really messed up my schedule, but I pushed through and picked up and put down maybe 7 books in total.
As long as you’re reading something, then you’re good.
2. Try to read short stories and Novellas
I think that if you can push through a short story or novella, then you get that sense of satisfaction, which will help you push through the slump.
Also, the novellas do count for your Goodreads challenge, so that’s a plus.
3. Listen to audiobooks
Audio-books are your best friend when you want to get through books quickly.
I usually put the speed on x1.5 or x2, and just listen to whatever book I want. So I’m basically reading a book without really reading the physical copy, and I’m reading faster.
4. Reread a favourite
I’ve done this a couple times when I felt stuck because you know you liked that book, so it kind of feels like visiting an old friend after years of not seeing each other.
Yes, I know that rereading a favourite means that it won’t count for your Goodreads challenge, but at least, you’ll break out of your slump and read more books that will count.
How to prevent reading slumps
I decided I should give you a little tip on how to prevent the slumps from happening, and not just tell you how to stop them.
One of the best tips is to read at your own pace.
Don’t stress over finishing a book quickly, or finishing a book that you’re not really enjoying.
If you don’t want to read a certain book, then just stop reading it and start another one.
And before you leave, I want to mention that there’s this cute little indie shop called Good Old Books which I’m working with that I think you should check out.
I even got you guys a coupon code! If you use my link and the code MAYDAYS6 you’ll get 10% off everything including CDs, books, and vinyls! You have unlimited use of it the code till the 31st of May!
So go and show them some love and tell them that I sent you!
Much love, Rawan ❤ …
