Calming Down After A Panic Attacks

Hey, guys! Have you ever had a panic attack? If your answer is yes, then you know how shitty they make your life.

I personally have S.A.D (Social Anxiety Disorder), which causes me to get really bad panic attacks when I get pressured into talking to someone, presenting something, get into places with lots of people etc.

Because of that, I figured some tips and tricks that I use to calm down after a panic attack, and decided to share them with you today!

I hope you guys enjoy!

1. Listen to Music

I try to listen to calm, acoustic music to calm down.

It helps to focus on something other than what’s happening in the world. Just focus on the strums of the guitar or the beat of the drums etc.

Try to get some noise canceling headphones to really distract you.

2. Sit Up, Don’t Lay Down

I feel like most people tell you to go lay down, but I think that it’s best if you just sit up and try to focus on yourbreathing.

If I lay down, personally, I feel like the whole world is pushing down at my chest; so I’m not gonna try to do that anytime soon.

3. Splash Water On Your Face

This one is really self-explanatory. Just splash some water on your face to wake you up and calm down.

I’m pretty sure you could guess this one by yourself, but it’s worth the mention.

4. Drink A Sip of Water

I really recommend that you try to have a couple sips of water or something to refresh your system.

Drinking a cold cup of water can do more than you just think. It really does help, it might be the second best tip to calm down. The first is the one that I’m going to mention right now.

5. Do Some Breathing Exercises

You might have seen some gifs around that ask you to sync your breathing to them, to calm down, and I’m going to be 100% honest right now: they work! 

I embedded one here for you to try out if you wanna try them out.

But if you don’t want to use the gifs and videos, then you can just breathe in for 3 seconds and exhale for 3 seconds and alternate over and over again till you calm down.
